Modulation Station is an EDM artist and content creator. He creates music with a cinematic feel that inspires emotional connection.
Challenge
The primary challenge was tackling the name. The term Modulation Station has little relevance to people outside of the EDM scene. Previous logos were AI-generated renditions that attempted to literally depict what it was. My primary goal was trying to understand what made his approach unique and depict it in an abstract way.

Strategy
The strategy was built on the idea of resonance and escapism through music. Modulation Station's unique approach was centered around "making film scores for everyday life." Film scores are unique because they tend to avoid lyrics. Rather than directly telling the audience how to feel, they provide an emotional baseline that enables audiences to decide for themselves.

Solution
Solution
The art direction was inspired by Syd Mead's "supersonic baroque" art style. We wanted something technology centered, but elegant. This idea of resonance and connection through music is embodied by the mark which forms a bridge, sound wave and an abstract "M." The mark also has variations that represent each of the four base sound waves manipulated during the music-making process.

Typography
Neue Haas Grotesk and Munchenstein are clean and modern. Munchenstein is based on Max Miedinger's second typeface, Horizontal. With its geometric precision and sleek forms, Münchenstein evokes technology and architecture.

We identified that his music ranges from somber to uplifting. The revised color palette relies on a vibrant orange and white for its primary colors, and a supporting shade of light blue.

Sticker collecting is important to the EDM community. Synthesizer companies often include stickers with every new product they ship. The goal was to create a mascot based on his dog Dino Delaurentis (DN-0), that felt cohesive with the rest of the identity system.
